There’s a point in every campaign where the candidate gets sick of their own fundraising emails. It usually hits around 45 days out from the election. You’ve sent the same ask four different ways and you’re convinced everyone’s tired of hearing it.
Here’s the thing you have to internalize: nobody reads your emails as closely as you write them. Your supporters see maybe one in three. The message you’re bored of, most of your list has barely registered.
So for the final stretch, the cadence is simple:
- One ask a week, same day, same time. Predictable beats clever.
- Same core message every time. Change the opening story, keep the ask identical.
- Deadlines that are real. End of quarter. Pre-general filing. Match deadlines only if the match exists.
- Thank-you within 48 hours of every gift, every time. This is where tools matter, because at week six nobody has the willpower to do it manually.
You are not annoying people. The unsubscribes you’ll get were never going to give. The donors you’ll reach needed the fourth ask because they meant to give at the second one and life happened.
Boring, repeated, on schedule. That’s the last-45-days fundraising program.
